What are the differences between a Colander and a Sieve?
A Colander is a metal, plastic or ceramic bowl-shaped kitchen utensil with an array of large holes in its sides and base.
A Sieve is a bowl or conical shape created from fine metal, fabric or plastic mesh.
When to use them
Colanders are best used to drain liquid from chunky foods such as pasta, vegetables and fruit.
Sieves are better used for separating solids from liquids.

A Colander is a type of strainer invented for culinary purposes, to separate liquid from food. The name 'Colander' comes from the word 'colum', which means 'strainer' in Latin.
