Blanched Grinding Nest

SWALŌ’s mortar and pestle range adds both luxury and style to your daily cooking rituals in the kitchen. This alluring shape is wheel-thrown to create an air-filled, double-walled nest with a lightweight design and a steady base. The hollow pestle is designed to sit nicely in your hand and precisely follow the curve of the mortar nest, ensuring even contact and comfort while grinding. The clay has a slight grain, and the mortar and pestle base is left unglazed to create an abrasive surface. Our grinding nests are food safe and dishwasher-safe.

Perfect for crushing spices, grinding pastes or preparing paint pigments.

    Buff, Grog stoneware. Glazed in a matt white food-safe glaze with a slight cratering effect. The unglazed areas have been treated with a liquid Quartz to ensure it is stain-proof.
